No pressure for Akihiro

In "SRO Cinemaserye," Akihiro Sato portrays an actor from Japan who comes to the Philippines to promote a new series--something not that far-off from his reality. In fact, the only difference seems to be the fact that Akihiro doesn't have a crazy stalker fan who would save him from a kidnapping attempt! Text by Jason John S. Lim. Photos by Mitch S. Mauricio. Akihiro Sato, of course, isn't all that new in acting. He has already appeared in the independent film Handumanan and is currently a contender sa current season ng Celebrity Duets. But that doesn't make his television acting debut any less thrilling. "I'm really excited!" The Brazilian-Japanese actor-model tells us. And what's making him more excited about his SRO Cinemaserye project is the fact that he's acting alongside Rufa Mae Quinto! "She's a pretty actress," Akihiro shares with us. "I watched her movies, because I'm trying to learn Tagalog." He adds, "it's a privilege to work with her." In the first three episodes of SRO Cinemaserye, Akihiro's been stalked, saved and wooed by the sexy Rufa Mae. Part of a mini-series and still a contender in Celebrity Duets, how is Akihiro handling his schedule? "I have been waiting for this moment--to be busy [with show business]. "I just focus and do it," says the model-actor who doesn't feel pressured about his many engagements. "This is really my first time to enter show business--so it's really exciting. I really hope they like my performance." And after SRO Cinemaserye and Celebrity Duets? Does Akihiro know what he'll do next? "You must watch out," he cheekily answers. "Let's see what comes after."
