CBCP: Faithful may send prayer requests online

By Patricia Isabella Romarate

The Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) now offers an online platform where Catholics can send their prayer requests in time for Holy Week.

As the country is currently battling against the coronavirus disease, the government has ordered to dismiss all public gatherings (including Mass) and placed an enhanced community quarantine in Luzon in an effort to flatten the curve of COVID-19.

So, while preventive measures are still in effect, the Media Office of the CBCP utilized the good use of the Internet to create an online platform in its official news site, the CBCP News, where the faithful can submit their mass intentions.

Msgr. Pedro Quitorio, the CBCP director, said that “Amid the COVID-19 crisis, we are encouraged to make good use of the digital technology for our pastoral concerns and liturgical celebrations.”

Before submitting your mass intentions, you must first choose from these three purposes: Thanksgiving, Petitions, and For the Response of the Soul.

After that, you will be directed to an online form where you can fill in the details of your prayer request.

Msgr. Quitorio noted that priests will perform Mass online for all the received intentions.

CBCP also has a partial list of online masses that are offered in different dioceses throughout the country.
