Maine Mendoza denounces fake FB page

By Dianara Alegre

Phenomenal star Maine Mendoza denounced a Facebook page named after her for spreading false information about Eat Bulaga's alleged special announcement, on Wednesday, April 8.

The fake FB account posted an advisory about a certain raffle promo that was supposedly for the benefit of 100 Kapuso viewers.

The post also requested some sensitive information from the viewers such as their name and cell phone number.

Alarmed about the fake Facebook post, Maine addressed the issue on the same social media platform.

She wrote, “Mga dabarkads, wala pong katotohanan ito. Hindi din po ako ang may hawak ng account na iyan, ito lamang po ang aking Facebook page.”

The actress-host also encouraged the public to stay vigilant to not be a victim of hoax news.

“Huwag po agad-agad maniwala sa mga nababasa at nakikita online, lalo na sa Facebook.

"Sa panahon ngayon, tiyak na marami pa din ang mananamantala. Maging alerto at maingat po tayo palagi,” she said.

Her post reached a number of netizens as they responded to the actress' concern. Some acknowledged Maine for her concern but a number demanded donations from her.

The Eat Bulaga host mobilized a DoNation drive in order to help daily wage earners who are not allowed to work during enhanced community quarantine due to 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

Her drive accumulated a total of P587,677.92, seven days after its launch on March 20.
