The transformation of the presidential yacht is part of the government's efforts to ease the burden on hospitals in Metro Manila, who are already overwhelmed by the number of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) suspected and probable patients they're caring for.

Recently, two private passenger ships of 2Go Group, Inc. have been volunteered by the company to be converted into a floating hospital.
Along with the vessels, seven other establishments have also been converted into quarantine facilities or COVID Centers, namely:
1) Ninoy Aquino Stadium
2) Rizal Memorial Stadium
3) Rizal Memorial Sports Complex
4) Philippine International Convention Center
5) World Trade Center
6) Asean Convention Center
7) National Government Administrative Center
The presidential yacht is currently docked at the Naval Station Jose V. Andrada in Manila, and reportedly can accommodate a total of 28 patients and five medical personnel.

The presidential yacht was remodeled 48 hours after President Rodrigo Duterte ordered for it to be utilized as a quarantine facility.
It was the team of officers and enlisted personnel aboard BRP Ang Pangulo who led the transformation of the VIP compartments into COVID-19 medical ward and patients rooms.
