Ruru Madrid, Bianca Umali, Glaiza De Castro, Tom Rodriguez, Ice Seguerra topbill 'Para Kay Seph' online benefit concert this Sunday
This Sunday, April 19, Kapuso stars Glaiza de Castro, Ruru Madrid, Bianca Umali, Tom Rodriguez, Gladys Reyes and Christopher Roxas, Arra San Agustin, Denise Barbacena, Buboy Villar, Chynna Ortaleza-Cipriano, and popular singers Kean Cipriano, Jeffrey Hidalgo, Sponge Cola, and Ice Seguerra are coming together a beautiful cause.
They are banding together for "Para Kay Seph: Online Rakrakan & Bayanihan," an online fundraising concert for Joseph de los Reyes, GMA Talent and Lighting Director who at 32 years old, passed away due to Covid-19 and orphaned a grieving family including his 9-month old baby.
Aside from the assistance given by his mother network GMA-7, Joseph's closest friends and colleagues in the TV and film industry have organized this benefit concert to gather funds for the future of his son.
Joseph de los Reyes was a brilliant lighting director and was responsible for the impressive cinematography of such TV shows as Wagas, Tadhana, Karelasyon and popular Kapuso teleseryes Inday Will Always Love You and Sahaya.
Bianca Umali, who topbilled Sahaya in 2019, says, “Joseph's passing really broke my heart. Nakasama ko siya ng ilang buwan sa set at talagang napakabuti niyang tao.
"Marami akong natutunan sa kanya. Napakasipag niya at napakasimple. Tahimik lang pero ang saya niya kapag nagkukuwento noon lalo na noong bagong panganak pa lang ang baby niya.
"That's why when I learned that he passed away, it really broke my heart”.
This Sunday, Bianca Umali performs in honor of Joseph and to celebrate the life of a hardworking colleague and a friend.
Ruru Madrid, who was part of the daily series Inday Will Always Love You, remembers Joseph as well, “Nakasama ko po si Kuya Joseph noon when I guested sa Inday Will Always Love You.
"Napakapassionate niya sa trabaho tapos napakamasiyahin. Ang lungkot na maaga siya kinuha. “
For the benefit concert this Sunday, Ruru Madrid will play his guitar and will be singing live from home.
Kapuso leading man Tom Rodriguez acknowledges the value of the “men and women behind the scenes” especially for TV such as the likes of Joseph.
He says, “Without them wala kaming mga artista, walang magandang show, walang magandang shots.
"This Sunday I will be singing songs in gratitude for them through Joseph who is already in Heaven just like my dad. Saludo ako sa kanya.”
Testimonials from colleagues whom Joseph also worked with such as stars LJ Reyes, Archie Alemania, and other friends from film and TV will also be shared in the online concert.
