Max Collins, still waiting on doctor's approval to have a water birth at home

By Aaron Brennt Eusebio

Kapuso celebrity couple Max Collins and Pancho Magno explained their decision to have a water birth at home with the help of a midwife and a doula.

Max is currently in her third trimester and is due to give birth to a baby boy in July.

In an exclusive interview with GMANetwork.com via Skype, Max and Pancho revealed that they started considering water birth when the COVID-19 pandemic worsened.

“Ever since kumalat 'yung virus, that's when we really started considering water birth at home because I don't want to put myself and my family at risk sa hospital,” Max revealed.

“So I just think that maybe more comfortable 'pag nasa bahay, I think that's the best option for us na umiwas sa ospital and sa crowded areas.”

Max explained that they are still waiting for the clearance of their doctor because their OB-Gyn would not be present in the childbirth unless Max needs to do a caesarian operation.

“What I'm gonna do is a gentle birth, so 'pag ganoon, it's a midwife who oversees the birth and a doula,” Max explained.

A doula is a non-healthcare professional but is a trained companion who supports another individual (the doula's client) through significant health-related experience.

“I already brought it up to my OB na I'm considering water birth at home, so I have to figure out if I'm physically capable to do that,” Max added.

“We'll probably find out, maybe, next month.”
