Heart Evangelista reacts to netizen who says she's posting donations to boost her ego

By Cara Emmeline Garcia

Despite her sweet facade, Kapuso actress Heart Evangelista is not one to back down from bashers who frequently comment on her posts on Instagram.

For a particular post, one netizen described the actress's post as altruistic and even suggested that she's only posting photographs of her donations to boost her ego.

The netizen wrote, “@iamheartee, I saw one particular actress from the Philippines who gave a lot of time to share her blessings to the community but not a single picture of her with all her donations, time and effort.

“I suggest you reduce those 'altruism' pictures of yours because it's inappropriate--oh well if it uplifts your ego--you are feeding that ego in a pathetic direction. You give, you give--”

To which the actress retaliated, “My donations are not out for people to see. These are donations from companies and I post to show them for transparency.

“Now go on to your real account and do something good. Maybe pray… in a room where no one will see you but God.”

The two were referring to a post made by Heart thanking her sponsors from a local clothing brand, Kamiseta, for donating 500 face shields which will be donated to frontline workers in Manila and Sorsogon.

Continuous show of generosity

Heart Evangelista is among the many Kapuso stars who've been helping frontline workers and the people in Sorsogon amid the enhanced community quarantine due to COVID-19.

In her recent vlog, the actress has been setting aside time to provide personal protective equipment in Sorsogon, sending financial aide via Twitter, and have been giving away relief goods out in the street and through GMA Artist Center's #KapusoProjectRiceUp.

In an interview with 24 Oras, Heart was seen tearing up as she described her experience helping people amid the crisis.

She said, “'Pag nakikita ko 'yun and there are so many people [to lend a hand to], it's hard because you have to choose who needs it the most.

“And for me, that's the hardest task because you want to help everyone.”
