JC de Vera, overwhelmed sa 'Sana Ngayong Pasko'

Nang unang matanggap ni JC de Vera ang offer for 'Sana Ngayong Pasko,' he tells iGMA.tv exclusively that what he took is just another job—that is, hanggang nalaman niya kung sinu-sino ang mga makakasama niya! Text by Jason John S. Lim. Photos by Mitch S. Mauricio. "At first, hindi ako—" JC de Vera shares with us na Sana Ngayong Pasko was just another project for him. "'yung usual feeling na, 'Okay, may show ako. Yey.' Ganoong lang." Pero this was before he found out kung sino ang makakasama niya sa show. "Eventually, na-discover ko kung sino 'yung kasama [ko], na-excite ako bigla." JC then reveals to us, "at the same time, na-overwhelm ako. Kasi sobrang bigat ng mga kasama ko pala dito." He adds that he suddenly saw Sana Ngayong Pasko as a blessing na rin. "Kasi hindi lahat ng artists nabibigyan ng opportunity makasama itong ganitong klaseng cast." Ngayon, JC tells us na in the mood na siya talaga. "Nasa mood na ako mag-work, and lalo pang nadadagdagan 'yung excitement ko mag-taping." And sino ba naman ang hindi mae-excite sa joined forces nina Miss Susan Roces, Christopher de Leon and Gina Alajar? For JC though, it's Christopher de Leon that's he's truly looking forward to work with. "Kasi the first time I've worked with him, bata pa ako noon." Kuwento sa amin ng binata, they weren't even related doon sa story. "This time, mas maganda. Kasi nag-evolve na ako as an actor, tapos 'yung relationship pa namin ni Tito Boyet—tatay ko pa siya! Excited na ako talaga." Aminado si JC that he really looks up to Christopher de Leon as an actor. "Kumbaga, sabihin mong drama, unang pumapasok sa isip ko, Christopher de Leon! 'Di ba?" And part of his excitement, JC tells us, is "feeling ko, ang dami kong matututunan sa kanya e. Feeling ko, kung ano 'yung mga natutunan ko pagdating sa acting, madadagdagan pa dahil sa kanya." With Ynna Again Sana Ngayong Pasko also marks his second project na si Ynna Asistio ang partner ni JC. Pero the actor tells us na hindi ibig sabihin nito, sila na ang bagong love team partners. He explains, "kasi 'yung ang ginawa ng network, hindi naman sila nagpinpoint lang kung sino 'yung makakasama sa show na ito. Hindi naman sila pumili ng mga artists para lang mabigyan ng work. Pinili talaga nila kami kasi fit kami doon sa role." JC says Dear Friend was able to show the network bosses what he and Ynna are capable of as actors—not as love team partners. Pero, he adds, "siguro nakitaan nila kami ni Ynna na at ease kami sa isa't isa, na comfortable [kami]." But as one of GMA-7's new love teams, "hindi pa siguro." Drama is JC's Passion With three consecutive heavily dramatic roles, JC tells us na he thinks he has found his niche in the entertainment industry. "Kung ako naman 'yung papapiliin mo, go ako sa drama." JC reveals to us na "siyempre, gusto ko kung saan ako comfortable. At kung saan ako talagang mahahasa, doon ako. Doon 'yung path ko. "And tingin ko, nasa tamang path naman ako." Of course, JC doesn't plan on turning down other roles. "Halimbawa pagsubukin nila ako ng action, or ng kaunting comedy na pa-cute—why not?" Dagdag pa niya, "kung may fantasy naman—I'm sure hahaluan pa rin nila ng drama yun." JC's Invite Sa pagtatapos, we ask JC kung bakit dapat panoorin ang Sana Ngayong Pasko—and here's his answer: "Exciting 'to. Very heartwarming story; mapapanood nila dito kung paano talaga maging united ang mga Pinoy when it comes to family. And mae-entertain sila simply because 'yung ipapakita namin sa kanila, kung ano 'yung mga nangyari sa present. From Ondoy, right after Ondoy, and 'yung pagdating ng Pasko, and 'yung New Year. So habang pinapanood nila, halimbawa Christmas Day na, Christmas din 'yung mapapanood nila sa amin. So very present time, real time talaga 'yung mapapanood nila. So mae-entertain sila. And for sure very heartwarming talaga siya, dahil yun nga, 'yung story magre-revolve sa family. Yun, mage-enjoy talaga sila." Sana Ngayong Pasko airs weeknights after Full House, sa GMA Telebabad.
