Poor at bitter na si Chynna Ortaleza

Chynna Ortaleza is used to playing the kontrabida, and in "The Last Prince," she will once again play the part para pahirapan ang buhay ng character ni Kris Bernal. Text by Jason John S. Lim. Photos courtesy of GMA Network. After Adik sa 'Yo wherein Chynna Ortaleza played a character na pseudo-kontrabida, nagpahinga muna ang dalaga from the scripted shows. Bukod sa kanyang weekly performances sa SOP Fully Charged, Chynna also got busy last year with a series of shows that honor kids who are achievers. She explains, to iGMA, "Yung mga first placers sa quiz bees, mga student achievers, mga ganoon, binibigyan namin ng award." Chynna says she doesn't know if the shows will continue this year, pero if she could have her way, it would. "It's a fun thing to do e," she tells us. In the meantime though, focused muna si Chynna sa kanyang bagong prime time project, ang The Last Prince, wherein she plays the role of Lourdes. Bilang si Lourdes, Chynna will be the antagonist sa buhay ni Lara (Kris Bernal) before and during the time she meets Almiro (Aljur Abrenica). "Basically, medyo mean siya kay Kris Bernal sa paniniwala na salot si Kris," kuwento sa amin ni Chynna. Sa istorya kasi ng The Last Prince, Kris's family gets involved in an accident, "and madadamay din 'yung kasintahan ng character ko." Chynna says ito ang magiging dahilan kung bakit galit si Lourdes kay Lara. "Yun 'yung pinanggagalingan ng hate niya." Gray character Marami nang kontrabida roles na ginampanan si Chynna, but she notes na whereas her first two telefantasyas found her playing really evil characters, when she is given human roles, laging gray area ang morality nito. "Usually naman, ang [human] characters ko gray." Ang kaibahan nga lang daw nito sa kanyang previous gray characters is—"poor lang siya." As an example, Chynna cites Paano Ba Ang Mangarap? wherein she played the kontrabida whose anger and hatred "stems from 'yung love na hindi naibalik." For The Last Prince, Chynna says the anger is based on the "loss of a loved one naman." Pero gaya sa Paano Ba Ang Mangarap?, ang magiging kakampi ni Chynna sa kanyang bagong soap ay ang nanay ng kanyang former boyfriend who will be played by Jay Aquitania. "Ang lagi ko lang nakakausap is 'yung mommy nung boyfriend ko doon, si Angelu de Leon." Chynna says her character is close to Angelu, "kasi hate din [nila] si Kris dahil nga doon sa nangyari."
