Kris Wu, Luhan and Tao look back on their lives as trainees

By Marah Ruiz

A discussion on whether they are strict to trainees in Chinese survival show Produce Camp 2020 prompted friends and former EXO members Kris Wu, Luhan and Tao to look back on their past as trainees in South Korea.

Luhan particularly remembered Tao struggling during one of their dance classes.

"When he first came to where we were training, remember the first class? He left in the middle of our wild party dance class. Oh no, after I found him, he was crying. He felt too much pressure. He was crying in the restroom," he recalls.

"He's the 'best in tear glands,'" Kris teased.

"Because I only had two things back then that I needed to do which is singing and dancing. I myself put a lot of pressure on myself. I didn't know anything back then. Everyday, I'd think that we should just perform well. I had a one-track mind. That's it. I didn't think about anything else," Tao explained.

The three ultimately debuted in 12-member South Korean-Chinese boygroup EXO in 2012.

Training to be an idol in South Korea is known to be very grueling. Aside from being fiercely competitive, young men and women practice singing and dancing for long hours and adhere to very high standards of beauty.
