Inter-Guild Alliance releases own 'new normal' protocols for film and TV productions

The Inter-Guild Alliance (IGA) has released its own set of 'new normal' guidelines and protocols for film and television productions yesterday, May 19.

The Inter-Guild Alliance describes itself as "community-based network of various groups representing different relevant sectors of the film, television, and advertising industries in the Philippines."

It is composed of the Directors' Guild of the Philippines Inc. (DGPI), Lupon ng Pilipinong Sinematograpo (LPS), a Production Designers Technical Working Group, an assembly of Assistant Directors and Script Supervisors, a TV and Film Screenwriters Collective, a Technical Working Group of Freelance Line Producers and Production Managers, Sound Speed Philippines, and Filipino Film Editors.

IGA has made the protocols available on its Facebook page.

This comes at the heals of the "Interim Guidelines on Safety Protocols for the Conduct of Film and Audio-Visual Production Shoots to Mitigate COVID-19" which was released by the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FCCP) on May 16.

In a statement, the Philippine Motion Pictures Producers Association (PMPPA) claims that the FCDP failed to consult them or ask for any input before they released the interim guidelines.

"Because these guidelines were released prematurely and without final consultation with the producers nor the guilds, this caused much confusion and anxiety not just in the film industry but also in the television and advertising industries," part of their statement read.

Likewise, the Directors' Guild of the Philippines (DGPI) also endorsed the IGA guidelines and will abide by it should it be deemed safe to start productions again.

The IGA guidelines state that people on set cannot exceed 70 individuals. Artistas are also discouraged to bring their personal glam team and entourage to the set.

The set should also be closed to the public and "lagari" or going to a different set or location is prohibited to avoid cross contamination.

Production-hired vehicles must also only carry two persons per row.
