Arnold Vegafria and Maureen Montagne clarify Miss Eco International rumors

By Cara Emmeline Garcia

On May 27, Miss World Philippines Organization head Arnold Vegafria clarified on social media the alleged dethronement of current Miss Eco International titleholder Suheyn Cipriani of Peru due to pregnancy.

According to the rumors, the Peruvian beauty queen was stripped of the crown for violating the terms as she got pregnant while fulfilling her reign.

However, no official announcement has been made yet by the Miss Eco International Organization and its founder Dr. Amaal Rezk.

In the said post by Vegafria, he called the attention of media outlets and pageant fans alike who picked up the issue to be cautious since the one next in line is Filipina beauty queen Maureen Montagne.

He said, “In light of the mounting viral rumors alluding the dethronement of reigning Miss Eco International 2019 Suheyn Cipriani and the subsequent appointment of Miss Eco International 2019 1st Runner-Up Maureen Montagne as the new Miss Eco International 2019, the Miss World Philippines organization cautions all concerned media from disseminating such unconfirmed reports and advises everyone to wait for the official announcement from the Miss Eco International organization, to settle the issue once and for all.

“The Miss World Philippines organization affirms its support to Miss Eco International founder Dr. Amaal Rezk, and will respect and abide by her decision regarding the pressing issue.”

As for Maureen, she also asked everyone to remain calm and aired that she is currently putting all her efforts as a participant in this year's Binibining Pilipinas competition.

She wrote to her fans via Instagram story, “Hi guys, I know there are a lot of rumors going around right now but I want to let you know I've poured my heart and soul into BBP this year.

"I'm currently speaking to both organizations right now to figure things out.

“I will update you guys with news once I receive an official announcement. I hope you're all safe and well! Love and miss you guys! #withlightandlove.”

If the Miss Eco International Organization decide to appoint Montagne, she will be the second Filipina titleholder and pageant fans will likely consider it as a back-to-back win for the country following the triumph of Kapuso host Thia Thomalla who won the same title in 2018.
