Catriona Gray and Pia Wurtzbach are among the celebrities expressing criticism and dissent towards the new anti-terrorism bill.

The congress has approved House Bill 6875 on final reading yesterday, June 3, and it only awaits the signature of President Rodrigo Duterte for its promulgation into law. And with the controversial bill breezing through the process, more celebrities are voicing out their sentiments online.

Among these are two Miss Universe beauty queens, Catriona and Pia who both expressed their opposition.

Catriona called to #JunkTerrorBill and further emphasized our basic and constitutional rights. She also addressed her followers to be informed and involved.

An excerpt from her series of tweets read, “There is so much happening in the world and in our nation right now, and I know a lot of us want to just tune out because it all gets a bit overwhelming. But please, don't allow that to be the reason we revert into silence and turn a blind eye.”

“We need to stay engaged because this is where our voices count. So let's help each other by creating spaces that help us keep each other informed and help us understand what's going on.”

Likewise, Pia decided to break her silence to demand the government to keep their priorities straight.

A part of what she wrote read, “Sa lahat ng nangyayari ngayon sa Pilipinas at sa mundo.. overwhelming. Diba? Parang di mo alam kung maiiyak ka o magagalit. Parang pakiramdam mo minsan powerless ka. Parang sasabog yung puso mo. Yung feeling na parang may gusto kang sabihin. May kailangan kang sabihin.”

“Pero narealize ko na hindi ako powerless... kasi hindi ako nagiisa. #JunkTerrorBill #MassTestingNowPH #ActivismIsNotTerrorism.”

Celebrity couple Chynna Ortaleza and Kean Cipriano also took to social media their call against the new anti-terrorism bill.

Liza Soberano and Bogart the Explorer also called to #JunkTerrorBill.
