Super Junior K.R.Y.'s first Korean mini-album and lead single “When We Were Us” has finally been released.

In the music video, we see Kyuhyun, Ryeowook, and Yesung in different settings recording and playing memories as they sing the romantic ballad showing off their powerful vocals.

The song talks about a happy past, wishing that these memories will last forever, and longing for the same feeling over and over again.

The chorus goes, “Our shining season that we couldn't stop / The rain beautifully falling all over my heart / No matter how many times I go back in time / I will hug you over and over / Longing for the blue summer day when we both laughed and cried.”

In a behind-the-scenes clip in their channel on VLive, members of the sub-unit relayed how the title track meant to them as they released it to fans.

Yesung shared, “'When We Were Us' is a Korean-style ballad song. That's why I like it even more. I feel like many global fans will learn about the Korean-style ballad and It can serve as an opportunity for them to take interest in ballad songs. More importantly, I think it's great and it's worth a try.”

Ryeowook then related the song to his experience as a member of the sub-unit by mentioning, “Based on the title, the song talks about the past so I thought it was talking about K.R.Y. since we were formed in 2006.

“We were on hold for a while [due to military enlistment] and now an album is being released. It's like we miss the old times.

“Even so, we will love our fans no matter how many times we meet. We will love ELF and love one another that's why I think many people will relate with the lyrics.”

Making of “When We Were Us”

In another special video for VLive, the Super Junior sub-unit breaks down the process of making the latest album for their fans.

According to singer Kyuhyun, “We thought, 'Why don't we release a unit album in Korea?' We somehow thought it was too late.

“Although we released a lot of songs [in the past], it wasn't enough for the Korean fans since we didn't release a Korean album. But now, it is going to be released for the Korean market.”

The three shared that while they're famous as members of Super Junior, little is known about the sub-unit K.R.Y.

Yesung stated, “Before the name K.R.Y. was made, the three of us performed at Music Wave' where we sang GUMMY's 'Please forget me.' After watching our performance, the agency [SM Entertainment] decided to make a unit group.”

Ryeowook continued, “To be honest, I always dreamt of becoming a ballad singer. But coincidentally, I debuted as a pop singer wherein I danced every day. And I had to lose weight too.

“After a year, I was able to make my dream come true through K.R.Y. Although I debuted as a member of Super Junior, I felt like I re-debuted. For me, K.R.Y. is like a precious treasure.”
