Mike Tan laughs off claims of fake FB account

Mike Tan warns his followers about a dummy Facebook account using his full name, Jan Michael Silverio Tan.

The Kapuso actor is one of the thousands of Facebook users who have been victimized by the proliferation of fake accounts.

Mike posted a screenshot of the fake page on his official Instagram account on Monday, June 8,.

He quipped, “Dahil ang daming may dummy accounts, napa-search tuloy ako at nalaman kong Atenean na pala ako at single pa! #FakeFacebook.”

Earlier this week, thousands of Facebook users have been victimized by creators of fake accounts, which caused alarm over data privacy on the said platform.

Aside from Mike, his fellow Kapuso actor, Heart Evangelista, also warns the public about a fake account claiming to give free tablets to students.

On Tuesday, Senator Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan, another victim of the modus, has asked the Senate to conduct an inquiry on the proliferation of hoax Facebook accounts.

The senator said that identities of users might be used in online crimes and it could imperil one's security and privacy.
