Descendants of the Sun Ph star Dingdong Dantes is planning to venture into another business as he plans to launch a delivery app, he announced on Thursday, June 11.

The actor teased the said project titled, Ding Dong PH, during a “Fireside” live chat where he and other guests actor Nico Bolzico, Drew Arellano, Rico Blanco, and Matteo Guidicelli talked about the pandemic-hit industries in the country. This includes showbiz, food business, and tourism.

Dingdong shared that the idea was inspired by his wife Marian Rivera's flower business.

“Nagsimula lahat ng ito dahil sa inspirasyon e. Kasi my wife (Marian Rivera) has this flower business na ginagawa lang niya sa bahay, so home-based siya.

“One time, mayroon siyang isang kliyente na kailangan niyang pag-deliver-an ng bulaklak. Pagdating doon, nagkamali ng pinto tapos nasira pa,” he said.

He had no choice but to volunteer to deliver the flowers.

“So last minute, I had to help kasi ako lang 'yung may susi ng bahay. Tapos nu'ng bumalik ako, sabi ko, 'Sige, I'm going to get a new set'.

“Du'n nag-umpisa 'yung idea at lumawak na lang siya the past weeks after talking to like-minded friends who have the same vision and passion,” he added.

Meanwhile, since some industries were gravely affected by the current crisis including the showbiz, it has pushed Dingdong to pursue alternative projects.

“This pandemic became a game-changer para sa akin pati sa buhay namin. As many people know, this has been an equalizer, it leveled the playing field.

“It has crashed and damaged some industries but it also paved the way for some to flourish,” he said.

Dingdong has also revealed that he will use the platform to help colleagues in the industry.

Given that online apps are very much in demand these days, Dingdong wants Ding Dong PH to deliver the best service to clients through creating solutions for their specific needs.

“I think in this disruptive world, there is still a huge space especially for start-ups like these. I think the best is to offer alternatives and to cater to specific needs.

“Kasi I'm pretty sure hindi naman lahat ng pangangailangan ay nabibigay ng isang namumukod-tanging kumpanya. Doon pa lang sa aspetong 'yon, it's best to have alternatives.

“Nu'ng inisip ko siya, gusto ko solutions-based. I identify the problem first then I cater solutions specifically,” he added.
