KC Montero among 100 arrested for allegedly violating quarantine restrictions
TV host and businessman KC Montero, together with more than 100 other customers, was arrested last night at a high-end bar in Makati for allegedly violating quarantine restrictions.
In a report made by Jonathan Andal via Twitter, the Makati police conducted the operation at a roof deck lounge bar in Makati and found that the customers were drinking liquor and violating social distancing rules--all of which are included in the Republic Act 11332 or the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases Law.
However, according to KC, he went because the establishment was open.
He explained to reporters, “I think para sa mga taong napapunta diyan, I think what they thought was it was open, so you're allowed to go [inside].
“And on top of that, everybody was practicing social distancing. The tables were far apart.”
KC detailed the encounter on his Twitter account and mentioned that the experience was “absolutely ridiculous.”
In a series of now-deleted tweets, he said, “I was hungry, I went to eat at a place that seemed open and now I'm arrested.
"I really should've stayed home and watched Gilmore Girls.
“So they take all of us from a wide-open area, cram us into a tiny police station, hot and no AC, then cram us on to a truck shoulder to shoulder.
"How is that responsible? The exact opposite of social distancing.
“[They] arrested us for not social distancing (we were practicing it). We were there for 5 minutes for dinner.
“This is absolutely ridiculous.”

Like most cities, Makati remains under GCQ or general community quarantine with restaurants being allowed to operate.
Bars, however, remain to be prohibited from opening.
Following KC's arrest, the police also nabbed the bar owners and its employees, who told GMA reporter Jonathan Andal that no party ever occurred in the establishment.
The arrested were brought to the Brgy. Guadalupe Nuevo Gym to observe physical distancing.
