Sassa Dagdag reveals the inspiration behind her single 'Hulog ni Bathala'

By Aaron Brennt Eusebio

The Clash Season 2 alumna Sassa Dagdag released her newest single titled 'Hulog ni Bathala' under PolyEast Records while on quarantine.

In what was supposed to be a love song, the lyrics of the song quickly transformed into doubt after Sassa lost her inspiration.

“'Yung 'Hulog ni Bathala,' sinulat ko po siya before quarantine pa pero nasa drafts pa siya pero ni-record po namin siya nasa quarantine na,” Sassa said in an exclusive interview with GMANetwork.com.

“That time, sinulat ko 'yung song kasi sobrang inspired ko po noong time na 'yun kaya 'Hulog ni Bathala,' tapos sobrang thankful ako for that person.

“Pero nung nasa drafts na siya, 'yung person na 'yun, nawala po siya, nawala po 'yung inspiration ko.”

Although Sassa didn't reveal the name of her inspiration, she added lyrics in the end which questions if her inspiration is really 'Hulog ni Bathala.'

“So, I decided to add a twist sa song, sa dulo.

"So, nagkaroon siya ng, 'Hulog nga ba ni Bathala? Bakit tila nanlalamig na ang tadhana? Araw-araw pa rin kitang naaalala kahit sa panaginip na lang tayo nagsasama,'” Sassa revealed.

“From a love song, naging parang broken song po siya.”

'Hulog ni Bathala' is now available on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and other digital streaming platforms.

A lyric video of the song is also available on PolyEast Records' YouTube Channel.
