Christian Bautista collaborates with Indonesian singer Delon for new single 'We Are Here'
The Clash resident judge Christian Bautista is back with an exciting collaboration with Indonesian pride Delon Thamrin.
Asia's Romantic Balladeer and the Indonesian Idol Season 1 Runner-up released their single "We Are Here" on Friday, July 3.
Mr. Love Song Papa Obet had an exclusive interview via video conference with Christian and Delon to share their thoughts about this exciting collaboration.
The Kapuso singer revealed that they were already planning a collab prior to the lockdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
He explained, “Delon and I, we met in a Ronan Keating concert in Jakarta after a few years. I told him we should make a song soon and no one knew there was gonna be a lockdown.
“During the lockdown, I contacted him again and said 'Delon, this is the time to write that song.'
“Because we want to encourage other people.”
Christian admitted that he feels uncomfortable calling this new project with Delon as his international comeback because he feels that he has never left Indonesia.
The Clash judge tells Papa Obet, “It's as if I have never left! I actually don't like calling it a comeback kasi I'm always there in Indonesia anyway.
“But, to release another song with Delon and with Universal [Records] and with Nagaswara, who also made it possible.
“I'm so, so thankful for these two labels na even though we are in different territories, different equipment, different internet speeds, and internet lagging, we've made it happen and here we are.”
But what is the message that they want to convey with their duet?
“Delon and I want to tell everyone that we should help each other, that this is the time even though we are in lockdown, we should connect with each other,” Christian said.
He added, “That we should create, we should not be shy in asking for help and we should be ready to give help.”
Meanwhile, Delon expressed his eagerness to visit the Philippines soon to promote their new single.
He said, “Of course! I have to plan for this to go to the Philippines! I have never been there before.
“But I have a lot of friends over there. I want to go there!"
Through Delon's interpreter Arief, they enumerated their plans to promote 'We Are Here' in Indonesia in the coming days.
Arief shared, “For Delon's promotion, we will do a press conference and launching for this song, and will teleconference with Christian Bautista in Manila next week, on the 8th of July.
"We will make a campaign with Indonesian telecommunications like Telkomsel for promotion via ring back tone and this song for our channel.”
