Paolo Contis shares experiences in Iceland while filming 'Through Night & Day'

Through Night and Day star Paolo Contis shared his experiences while filming the hit movie in Iceland in today's (July 16) episode of Unang Hirit.

The film, top-billed by Paolo and actress Alessandra de Rossi, was first released on Philippine cinemas in 2018 and the public's reception towards the movie at the time did not equate its success in the online platform Netflix which started streaming Through Night and Day last July 9.

Paolo, ecstatic over its undeniable success, admitted that he had already given up his hopes on the movie after its so-so performance in 2018.

“Masaya siyempre. Kumbaga, a year and a half medyo ano ka na noon e, tapos mo nang isipin 'yung pelikula. Na-excite naman ako na pumasok siya sa isang online platform pero sobrang nagulat ako sa reception ng tao. Thankful ako na maraming nakapanood, finally!” he said.

The actor then said that his other comedy film Ang Pangarap Kong Holdap, which was released on the streaming site a few days prior to Through Night and Day, also helped to the promotion of the latter.

“Feeling ko nagulat lang din 'yung tao kasi nauna 'yung Ang Pangarap Kong Holdap na isang pelikula ko rin na nag-number one rin.

“So feeling ko nu'ng lumabas 'yung Through Night and Day, not knowing na drama 'yon nanood sila. Tapos ayon, gradual naman 'yung pag-angat niya, e. 'Di naman siya agad nag-number one, e. Tsaka nagulat sila na umiiyak ako. Feeling ko du'n sila nagulat,” he added.

The actor-comedian likewise shared his behind-the-scenes experiences while filming.

“Ang saya sobra. Sa Iceland kasi, siyempre kapag nagsu-shooting kayo ng ibang bansa, tulong-tulong na 'yan, e. 'Yan 'yung mga hindi nakikita ng tao na naghahakot ako ng ilaw papunta sa location. Sobrang saya.

“Tapos 'yung mga dialogue pa na kailangan hindi kami nanginginig. Negative 10 kami nu'ng nagsu-shooting. Especially kapag gabi. May mga times na ini-dub na namin. Hindi kaya, e,” he added.

Through Night And Day follows the story of two lovers' vacation to Iceland where their relationship was put to the test as they discover each other's faults and quirks and realize just how different they really are from each other.

Produced by Viva Vilms and directed by Veronica Velasco, it first hit Philippine cinemas in 2018.
