Mikael Daez recalls awkward first encounter with Marian Rivera

In the latest episode of Mikael Daez and Megan Young's podcast, '#BehindRelationshipGoals,' the celebrity couple talk about their experiences in showbiz.

There, Mikael shared a story about the time he met Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera back when he barely knew anything about the industry. Mikael's first encounter with Marian taught him all about showing respect and how to treat everyone one set with professionalism.

According to Mikael, "I went into an audition for GMA, the show's called Amaya. And my manager who was also just starting off at that time was like 'Mik, go to this.' I had zero idea what is an audition, never in my life had I gotten into the arts, I had no idea what an audition looked like, what you would do. To that point, I had never seen a script for anything.

"I go in this huge studio, they say 'Mik, Mik, come, we're gonna introduce you to your leading lady, Marian Rivera.' I think they were saying it in a way na 'This is Marian Rivera.' It wasn't registering to me as anything. I had no idea how big she was at the time.

"I didn't know anything about showbiz, the only thing I knew about Marian at that time was that she had a billboard on EDSA and she was pretty. 'Yun lang 'yung rumehistro when they said her name.

"Being the jerk that I accept, I come in, I was like 'Okay sure, I'll meet her, say hi, of course 'di ba?' I was trying to be nice. I wasn't trying to be mean or anything but because of my unawareness and ignorance, I came off as very fresh, masyadong presko, masyadong komportable bigla. Dapat marunong ako lumugar. Hindi naman siguro mayabang but jerk and presko vibes, at home na at home ka dito.

"I go in and Marian Rivera's there, there's a table [and] she says 'Oh, hi, ako si Marian.' And then she extended her hand and I reached over and I'm like, 'Hey, 'sup? I'm Mik.' And then umalis ako. So many things were happening but yeah I was a jerk. I'm sorry. Yanyan, I love you, you're amazing, you're beautiful. I was a jerk."

Every time he recalls that situation, Mikael thinks of how it could have negatively affected his career.

"I can imagine how that could've been a bad impression and true enough, years later, people would look back on that and then tell me, 'Oo Mik, mali ka doon bro, dapat 'di mo ginawa 'yon. Swerte ka na lang, swerte ka na lang naging magkaibigan kayo," he said.

After becoming good friends with Marian over the course of Amaya, Mikael said that they eventually addressed their first meeting.

Despite having heard the story before, Megan still couldn't believe how Mikael acted towards Marian.
