By Cara Emmeline Garcia

Ever since director Matt Reeves announced that Robert Pattinson would be starring as the famous caped crusader, 'The Batman' movie is one of DC's most anticipated movies to date.

However, because of the pandemic brought about by the coronavirus, the production of the film has shut down giving fans meager hope to see the movie on the big screen.

Except that wasn't the case.

On Sunday, Philippine Time, Matt surprised a good-sized teaser trailer of the movie during DC's FanDome virtual convention.

The movie takes place about two years into Bruce Wayne's career as Batman, a period when he was still just a masked vigilante. And yet, according to Matt, there are people who “are afraid of him, quite frankly.”

The trailer also introduces a few key characters such as Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon and Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman. Andy Serkis can also be heard in the trailer as Bruce Wayne's trusty butler and housekeeper, Alfred Pennyworth.

According to Matt, these characters are still coming into themselves because Selina Kyle is not Catwoman yet, and The Riddler and The Penguin are in their early criminal careers.

The film is supposed to be released on June 21, 2021. But because of the pandemic, it got moved to October 1, 2021.
