Kyryll and Garrett Bolden win big at Awit Awards

Kapuso artists Kyryll and Garrett Bolden made the network proud after they brought home two awards from the 33rd Awit Awards on Saturday, August 29.

The awarding ceremony was held online via their official Facebook page and YouTube channel.

Kyryll brought home the Best Performance By A New Female Recording Artist for her performance of “Silent Rumblings,” while Garrett won the People's Choice Awards for Favorite New Male Artist.

Upon the announcement of her name, Kyryll said, “Oh my gosh! Thank you so much po Awit Awards. Hindi ko po talaga inexpect ito and thank you po so much sa GMA Music. I'm so thankful! Thank you so much po.”

In total, there were 32 categories announced and the winners included P-pop act SB19, indie-folk band Ben&Ben, and funk-rock band IV of Spades who took home two major awards: Album of the Year and Record of the Year.

Guest performances were also held online by Julie Ann San Jose, Chito Miranda, Juan Karlos, Gary Valenciano, and so much more.

The Awit Awards is given by the Philippine Association of the Recording Industry (PARI) to recognize the best in the Philippine music industry.

To help music frontliners affected by the pandemic, the organization has created the AWIT FUND. All proceeds will be used to assist those who were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
