#PINNED: Get much-needed laughs from these local comedy classics
With everything that's happening nowadays, a laugh every now and then is sometimes the only thing we need (and can do, to be fair). Fortunately for our simple selves seeking escape, harmless and funny video content that will take us back to the carefree days of pre-pandemic Philippines are readily available online.
YouTube, in partnership with GMA Network, has launched Super Stream, a month-long showcase of Philippine blockbusters and iconic TV shows that will run from August 30, 2020 to September 26, 2020. Classic and popular Philippine TV series and movies will be curated into different categories per week. For the first week, we have movies. And not just your regular local ones, either. These are some of the underrated comedic gold that the local cinema scene has produced.

Si Agimat at si Enteng Kabisote
This movie is a crossover that few imagined happening between two classic movie franchises, Si Agimat at si Enteng Kabisote was an official entry at the 2010 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF). This movie gets the best of both the Agimat and Enteng Kabisote worlds, treating the movie audience to a comedic spectacle that also manages to insert notions of heroism and some bits of romance. Suffice to say, you will surely lose yourself while laughing along to this faux epic between two Filipino cinema giants.
Kiko En Lala
A comedy film released last year, this movie was the debut of Kapuso host and comedian Super Tekla (Romeo Librada) in the silver screen. While he is best known for appearing in Wowowin, GMA Network's top-rating variety show, and The Boobay and Tekla Show, Librada flexes his acting chops in this 2019 comedy.
Imagine Super Tekla playing two roles in one movie - a tough Kiko and an effeminate Lala, and you'll get why the movie was a hit to the audience. The movie also stars Derrick Monasterio, Kim Domingo, Jo Berry and Aiai Delas Alas.
Sosy Problems
Starring Kapuso “it” girls Rhian Ramos, Solenn Heusaff, Bianca King and Heart Evangelista, Sosy Problems was released as part of the MMFF in 2012. This movie narrated how the four glamorous socialites managed to overcome their differences and problems while at the same time, strengthening the bond between them. The all-star cast also included Kapuso hunks Aljur Abrenica, Mikael Daez, and Alden Richards. Veteran stars Cherry Gil, Mylene Dizon, and Nova Villa were also part of the cast.
Barbi D' Wonder Beki
A comedy movie that stars Paolo Ballesteros is always bound to be good stuff. Now, couple that with appearances by other comedic stalwarts such as Joey de Leon, Joey Marquez, Benjie Paras, and Smokey Manaloto and you get yourself a thoroughly entertaining film that also contains several takes on social issues. There's also the fabulous dresses and makeups that Ballesteros brings to his movie projects to watch for.
