In a pre-recorded speech, the Kapuso actor said, "I am deeply honored to be recognized by the Seoul International Drama Awards and I share this award to all the many men and women who work tirelessly to make this show alive in the hearts of our viewers."

Giving life to the character of a soldier in the series, Dingdong also dedicates the award to all the workers who are at the frontlines in curbing the spread of the infectious COVID-19.

He added, "This award is also a tribute to all frontliners of the world--soldiers, healthcare workers, and volunteers. This award is also for my loved ones and the Filipino people. May we find consolation knowing that our stories are being appreciated, especially during these trying times."

Dingdong is the fourth Filipino to win the Asian Star Prize after his fellow Kapuso actors, Gabby Concepcion, Dennis Trillo, and Alden Richards.

The said award is a non-competition category in the Seoul International Drama Awards, which honors excellence in television drama productions around Asia.

Descendants of the Sun PH, on the other hand, was officially awarded as the Most Popular Foreign Drama of the Year, alongside USA's Snowpiercer and Italy's The New Pope.

According to Dingdong's Instagram post on Wednesday, September 16, "reliving the story of DOTS is both an opportunity and responsibility" because it honors the modern-day heroes through their portrayals.

The 15th Seoul International Drama Awards was held on September 10 at the MBC Media Center Public Hall in Sangam-dong, Seoul, without an audience.

Its awards ceremony was streamed on MBC Drama's YouTube channel today, September 15.

Launched in 2006, Seoul International Drama Awards is one of Asia's leading festivals that recognizes top-quality TV programs, and introduces them to the worldwide audience.
