Arashi drops Bruno Mars-penned single 'Whenever You Call'

By Marah Ruiz

Top Japanese idol group Arashi has collaborated with American singer and producer Bruno Mars for a brand new song.

The song "Whenever You Call" is fully in English and has been released worldwide today, September 18.

Written and produced by Bruno Mars and D'Mile, the song is a medium tempo ballad which features sentimental lyrics which express feelings between Arashi members and their fans.

The song is especially emotional for avid fans of the group as Arashi is set to go in hiatus by the end of 2020.

"A song about the connection between us and our fans, 'Whenever You Call' is out now! A huge thanks to Bruno Mars for producing this song for us!! We really hope this song can be a ray of light for all who hear it," member Jun Matsumoto wrote on Instagram.

The music video features a few nightscapes of Tokyo as well as the members dancing a simple choreography in tasteful, sparkly black suits.

"Bruno, thank you so much for this wonderful song! Definitely check out the music video, everyone! You can really feel the essence of 'Tokyo.' It's truly a music video from 'Tokyo, Japan.' I've never felt more how much Tokyo Tower is a symbol of our city," member Sho Sakurai wrote on Twitter.
