GMA Network has a new breed of comedy writers as 20 writers graduates from its comedy writing workshop.

According to 24 Oras report, the workshop was organized by Comedy, Reality and Infotainment Group of GMA Entertainment TV.

In an interview with broadcast journalist Lhar Santiago, one of the new writers, Sheba Angeli Copita, expressed her gratitude for achieving the milestone.

“Nakita ko po ito. Bakit hindi ko i-try ang pagsulat since mayroon din naman po akong hilig sa pagsulat.

“Thank God, binigay sa akin ni God itong GMA comedy writing workshop and grumadweyt pa po at ito po ngayon at ini-interview n'yo,” she said.

GMA Network's SVP for Entertainment Group Lilybeth Rasonable said the new graduates is set to undergo immersion in the network's comedy programs.

“Ang next step na nila ngayon ay immersion. They will be distributed to the different comedy programs para ito na talaga 'yung experience nila sa buong trabaho ng comedy writers.

“Sa Pepito, sa Bubble Gang, Dear Uge, sa The Boobay and Tekla Show, sa AOS, 'yung comedy segment,” she said.

Bang Arrespacochaga, AVP for Comedy, Reality and Infotainment, shared that she was impressed by the wit and creativity of the new graduates.

“Ang likot ng utak nila, the millennials and the Gen Z. Ang lilikot ng utak.

"Actually, they presented the concepts from narrative to non-narrative, ang gaganda,” she added.

And to welcome the new breed of comedy writers, two of the most acclaimed comedians in the industry--award-winning actress Eugene Domingo and Comedy Genius Michael V--gave heartfelt messages for them.

“Congratulations and I wish you all the best. To all new graduates of GMA's comedy writing workshop, binabati ko kayo ngayon pa lang at excited na akong makatrabaho kayo,” Eugene said.

On the other hand, Michael V said, “Kahit magkakaiba kayo ng background, kahit magkakaiba kayo ng pinanggalingan, sana natutunan n'yong makipag-communicate using a common language which is the language of comedy.”
