On October 26, South Korean agency SM Entertainment teased fans after releasing a mysterious teaser and logo that says “aespa.”

As it turns out, SM Entertainment will be debuting a new girl group next month that will bear the same name.

The agency explained, as reported by Soompi, that the name came from the words “avatar,” “experience,” and “aspect,” with the meaning of “being able to experience a new world through another avatar of yourself.”

aespa will mark SM Entertainment's first girl group since the debut of Red Velvet last 2014.

The agency did not disclose any other information regarding the identities of its members.

It can be recalled that SM Entertainment has been hinting at its new girl group since September.

During the release of SuperM's “One (Monster and Infinity,” the logo for aespa was spotted at the end of the music video with Taemin teasing that it is a “big spoiler” for what's to come.

“That scene is related to the next story. That's a clue. That's a big spoiler,” he said during the group's reaction video.

“Something will come up and that reveals a plot.”
