Pia Wurtzbach answers bashers who question her Woman of the Year award

Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach addresses all her haters in a lengthy post after a few netizens commented that she is not deserving of the Woman of the Year award, given to her by Dubai-based luxury magazine Xpedition.

In an Instagram post, Pia said she's not the type to make a commotion about certain things, but because things were getting a bit out of hand, she felt the need to break her silence.

“I noticed a few bashers questioning why I was given this award, also saying that I don't deserve it… I usually don't like answering them, but I have to admit, nahu-hurt ako 'pag sinsabing 'wala ka namang ginawa,'” she said in the post.

“This year has been tough for me too. I've been trying to keep my head up and balance work and businesses, my personal life, and even family issues.

"I've been through some really dark times this year (even Jeremy [Jauncey, her boyfriend] has seen it), but somehow, I've been able to fight through it, and I haven't forgotten about the people who believed in me.

“So to my bashers who work so hard to bring me down, okay lang sa akin kung ayaw n'yo sa akin or iba kasi ang bet n'yo. This month marks 5 years since I won Miss Universe, but there are people, are organizations, who still believe and trust in me, and that's all that matters.”

In a follow-up comment, the Miss Universe 2015 enumerated the things she's done to help others during the pandemic, including opening her first fundraiser, donating her Miss Universe gowns, teaming up with the World Wildlife Fund, campaigning for UNAIDS every three months, among many other things.

She added, “I kept myself busy during this pandemic by helping, donating, keeping myself updated with the news, and doing free interviews and talks.

“People seem to think I have a staff of a big team, but really most of the work I do, I do myself. I've always been that way.”

Pia flew to Dubai to receive her award at the Xpedition Annual Gala Awards, and according to her, 15 awards were given during the event.

She is the second Filipino to be proclaimed Woman of the Year by Xpedition, the first being fellow Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray.
