SM Entertainment confirms SHINee's comeback in 2021

By Jansen Ramos

K-pop fans have a lot to look forward to this 2021 and one of them is SHINee's much-awaited comeback after a two year-hiatus.

This was announced by SM Entertainment during the SMTOWN LIVE "Culture Humanity" concert on New Year's Day.

The one-minute video started with a compilation of SHINee's hit songs from 2008 to 2018 like "Replay," "Ring Ding Dong,” and “Lucifer," and ended with an announcement of the band's return on the music scene.

"2021 SHINee is back," it read.

Shawols, the group's fandom, are excitedly anticipating SHINee's comeback as three of its members--Onew, Key, and Minho--have recently completed their military service.

While the band is on break, their youngest member Taemin is busy with his solo career. In fact, the latter released his third full-length album titled "Never Gonna Dance Again: Act 2" last November.

SHINee's last group release was their sixth studio album, "The Story of Light," comprising 16 tracks. It was released in May 2018 as part of their 10th anniversary project.

The album was the South Korean boy band's first release without Jonghyun, who passed away on December 18, 2017.
