Song Hye-kyo's next drama is with 'Descendants of the Sun' screenwriter
Korean actress Song Hye-kyo is set to make a comeback on television with an upcoming drama written by Kim Eun-sook, who was also a writer for the 2016 K-drama Descendants of the Sun.
A Philippine adaptation of Descendants of the Sun under GMA Network starring Dingdong Dantes and Jennylyn Mercado aired in 2020.
Song Hye-kyo's new drama role has recently been confirmed by Soompi.
Another source from Korean media outlet Ilgan Sports quoted a source who stated, “Screenwriter Kim Eun Sook is preparing a drama that will begin filming in the second half of the year. It will air at the end of the year at the earliest or the first half of next year at the latest. Song Hye Kyo was chosen for the lead role.
"The drama will be produced jointly by Hwa&Dam Pictures and Studio Dragon and is reported to be in the casting stage of production currently."
According to Ilgan Sports, Ahn Gil-ho will be directing the drama. His notable works include Forest of Secrets Season One, Memories of the Alhambra, Watcher, and Record of Youth.
Song Hye-kyo also mentioned her thoughts for her future projects in an interview with W Korea Magazine.
The actress explained that she had not decided on her next project yet and added, “I do continue to review the scripts I receive. But articles are released about me even when I've only received a script. There have even been a few times when it was reported that I was reviewing a project when I hadn't even received the script for it.”

The pair announced their engagement in June 2017 and got married on the same year. After two years of marriage, Song Joong-ki filed for divorce in June 2019.
