GMA Network bags TV Station of the year at the 5th GEMS Awards

GMA Network wins big at the 5th Guild of Educators, Mentors, and Students (GEMS) Hiyas ng Sining Awards as the station was hailed as the Best TV Network on Monday, March 1.

Furthermore, many personalities and celebrities from the Kapuso network took home big prizes during the awards night.

This includes Rowena Salvacion as Best Female Radio Broadcaster (Opinion or Public Service) for her show Serbisyo On the Spot under Super Radyo DZBB. Similarly, Wish Ko Lang host Vicky Morales bagged the Best Female TV Program Host while Wowowin host Willie Revillame took home the Best Male TV Program Host, both under the Public Service Category.

Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes was also a big winner at the 5th GEMS Awards after he was hailed Best Performance by an Actor (TV Series) for his portrayal as Capt. Lucas Manalo, a.k.a. “Big Boss” in the Philippine Adaptation of the K-drama series Descendants of the Sun.

Meanwhile, thanks to her outstanding performance in Isa Pang Bahaghari as Lumen, Superstar Nora Aunor took home the prize for Best Performance by an Actress in a Lead Role.

Furthermore, GMA News and Public Affairs' daily digital newscast Stand for Truth took home the Best Digital Newscast under the Digital category.

The GEMS - Hiyas ng Sining Awards honors different shows and personalities thanks to their contribution in the fields of writing, theatre, radio, television, and music.

This year, the award-giving body focuses on awarding celebrities, shows, and personalities who have demonstrated excellence in their profession and supported different community and social activities during the pandemic.
