GMA Network’s ‘SONA 2011’ coverage preferred by more viewers

The people listened intently as President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III delivered his State of the Nation Address (SONA) last July 25. And, as the Mega Manila overnight household audience shares from the more widely-recognized TV ratings service provider Nielsen TV Audience Measurement clearly show, more viewers chose “SONA 2011”, GMA-7′s live coverage of President Aquino‘s SONA, to hear what the President of the Republic has to say. Anchored by veteran broadcaster Mike Enriquez and powered by the full roster of the formidable GMA News and Public Affairs team, “SONA 2011” was the clear leader from 3:02 to 4:59 pm. “SONA 2011” posted 39.4 share points compared to ABS-CBN’s Ulat sa Bayan which only managed 24.5 during its 3:30-5:19 pm airing. Ulat sa Bayan’s 2:38-2:47 pm audience share is even lower at 21. GMA-7′s flagship primetime newscast 24 ORAS, which aired analysis and interviews to help viewers make sense of the President’s report, also topped ABS-CBN’s TV Patrol, 35.3 to 32. Continuing the analysis and report on the biggest news of the day is the Kapuso Network’s late-night news source SAKSI, which also emerged as the clear winner with 38.9 compared to ABS-CBN’s Bandila’s 34.4 share points. GMA News TV Channel 11’s coverage SONA NI PNOY landed a solid 13.6 share points. The SONA coverage ratings prove, once again, that GMA News and Public Affairs is the Filipinos’ most trusted source of news and information. This weekend, GMA News and Public Affairs again delivers Serbisyong Totoo with “REPORT CARD: Ang Antas ng Edukasyon sa Pilipinas.” Airing at 10:15 pm on Sunday Night Box Office (SNBO), REPORT CARD is a special documentary which hopes to reveal the state of education in the country. Imbestigador ng Bayan Mike Enriquez and popular actor and education advocate Dingdong Dantes probe the issues that deny countless Filipinos their basic right to education. Filmed from even the remotest corners of the archipelago — from the Babuyan Islands in the north to the marshes of Agusan in the south — REPORT CARD offers the most comprehensive coverage of the country’s education system and reveals compelling images of Philippine education today. The only broadcast news organization in the country to win the prestigious Peabody Award, GMA News and Public Affairs, remains inspired and committed to delivering the most comprehensive, reliable, multi-platform coverage of events and issues that have an impact on the lives of millions of Filipinos. --Text and photo courtesy of GMA Network
