TWICE uplifts fans with 'Depend on You' performance at TIME100 Talks

By Cara Emmeline Garcia

K-pop girl group TWICE recently delivered an uplifting performance for their fans as they performed their track “Depend on You” from their latest album, “Eyes Wide Open.”

Before their performance, Jihyo, Nayeon, Momo, Sana, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyong, and Tzuyu offered words of encouragement to everyone feeling down because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. TWICE member Jeongyeon is currently on temporary hiatus due to health issues.

Member Sana said, “Currently, we are sad to say that we are also aware that all of us are suffering in this situation.”

Nayeon added, “We are grateful to everyone who are doing their best to return us to our normal lives and to bring back brighter days. “

“TWICE will diligently keep on carrying out our duty to bring positive energy into the world,” Mina continued.

Momo then said, “We will try our best to be your strength to get through this time together.”

Dahyun mentioned that she, together with the other members, could at least bring joy to everyone's lives through their music and performances in the comfort of their homes.

Chaeyong added, “We hope everyone will stay safe and healthy until the day we can smile together.”

In line with this thought, the group then sang “Depend on You,” a track lovingly written by member Nayeon, which talks about offering a source of strength and support in the midst of trying times.

The song appeared in their latest “Eyes Wide Open” album and coincidentally happened to be hailed as one of TIME's Albums that Defined K-pop's Monumental Year in 2020.

The year 2021 will be a busy year for TWICE as they are scheduled to hold a live online concert for their Japanese fans this coming March 6th.

The news was announced last January 14 with the event's poster, which will be titled “TWICE in Wonderland.”

The online concert will be held using the latest technologies such as augmented reality and mixed reality and can be watched via smartphone or PC.

TWICE is definitely setting the bar high for the new year, and we can't wait for what they have in store for ONCE!
