The local pageant community went abuzz after Kapuso beauty queen Thia Thomalla dropped hints that she may be considering the possibility of competing again in Miss World Philippines.

Thia, who brought pride to the country in 2018 after claiming the Miss Eco International title in 2018 has uploaded her photo on Instagram and captioned it saying, “Will you help me conquer the world?”

Several celebrities reacted to her Instagram post including Sanya Lopez and Ysabel Ortega.

She also received support from 2017 Reina Hispanoamericana Winwyn Marquez, and former Miss World Philippines winners Laura Lehmann and Michelle Dee, too.

In a separate Instagram Story, Thia didn't categorically say that she will be joining already, but thanked everyone for their kind words and encouragement.

“Thank you for all the love.

“Praying for the best, and asking God for this favor.

“Still in lock-in taping, brb.”

Who is Thia Thomalla?

Cynthia Magpatoc Thomalla or Thia Thomalla is a Filipina-German beauty from Southern Leyte.

She signed a contract with GMA Artist Center in 2018 and appeared in several Kapuso shows like The Gift starring Asia's Multimedia Star Alden Richards and the lifestyle show Glow Up.

In an interview with Manila Standard in June 2020, Thia had already expressed her intention to give Miss World Philippines another try.

She told Manila Standard, “I'm happy with the Miss Eco International crown, but there are so many what ifs at the back of my head,”

“Miss World is my mother pageant. Given the perfect circumstances, I'd really love to join again.”

Although she was successful in her bid to claim the Miss Eco International title three years ago, Thia admitted during her interview with GMA News Online that the competition in Egypt then was pretty tough on her.

The Kapuso beauty queen recalled, "Actually it was a surprise for me kasi during the whole process of the competition, to be honest, the competition was three weeks long, and during the second week I was really homesick so I had like a breakdown.

"But then again, I tried to remember, I told myself na I'm not here for myself, I'm here for Philippines so I need to step up and finish this and bring home the crown. So actually, it was still a surprise for me kasi andaming magaling, andaming maganda and everybody deserves a crown."

Megan Young is the lone Pinay, who has captured the Miss World title, which was held in Bali, Indonesia in 2013.
