GMA Pinoy TV original content to air locally on GMA News TV beginning February 14

Initially aimed towards Filipinos living abroad to make them feel closer to home through rediscovering their roots and finding inspiration from fellow Pinoys, GMA Pinoy TV's original content will now also be seen locally via GMA News TV every Sunday, beginning February 14.

Viewers here in the Philippines can now enjoy watching GMA Pinoy TV's very own “Pinoy Aklatan: Filipino Stories for Kids” (Pinoy A+) from 10:00 to 10:10 am; and “Becoming Pinoy” at 11:00 to 11:30 pm.

"As part of GMA Pinoy TV's 15th anniversary offering, we launched Pinoy A+, a short-form educational program. It features a storytelling format with animation, and with Kapuso talents and personalities doing the reading. It aims to promote Filipino culture and heritage to children around the world," said GMA International AVP and Programming Head Cheri Domingo.

This advocacy project features various Kapuso personalities such as Pia Arcangel, Suzi Abrera, Lyn Ching, Connie Sison, Kara David, Yasmien Kurdi, Bianca Umali, Paolo Contis and LJ Reyes, Carlo Gonzales and Luanne Dy, Manilyn Reynes, and GMA News pillar Vicky Morales.

Young Filipino viewers and their parents alike can get to know the following classic Filipino stories from Pinoy A+ Season 1: "Ang Manok at Ang Uwak", "Ang Kuneho at ang Pagong", Ang Langgam at ang Tipaklong", "Ang Makulit na Gansa", Si Juan at ang mga Alimango", "Ang Agila at ang Maya", "Ang Matalinong Palaka", "Si Dagang Bayan at si Dagang Bukid", "Ang Leon at ang Daga", "Ang Inahing Manok", and "Ang Alitaptap at Paru-paro." Adding more color to these tales are animations illustrated by the GMA Pinoy TV team.

Meanwhile, Becoming Pinoy is GMA Pinoy TV's original series that profiles successful and influential personalities around the world who are of Filipino descent. Personal stories of coming to terms with their uniqueness, overcoming hurdles and challenges, and making their mark in foreign lands, hope to be a source of inspiration to Filipinos.

“We are grateful for the wholehearted participation of GMA personalities and for the positive response of our subscribers for our advocacy project Pinoy A+," said GMA Network First Vice President and Head of International Operations Joseph T. Francia. "As they make their mark abroad, we are also excited to share the colorful stories of our Kapuso in various countries in Becoming Pinoy. This is one way of honoring the 11 million of our relatives and friends who work and live abroad. We hope that these GMA Pinoy TV offerings will educate, entertain and inspire Filipino families during these times.”

Some of the Pinoys to be featured are Carolyn Fe, the Lola in Blues Clues & You; Broadway star Jonjon Briones, Nico Santos who starred in Hollywood film 'Crazy Rich Asians' and series 'Superstore'; YouTube sensation Caleon Twins; Vince Rodriguez, who was a part of the cast of 'Crazy Ex-Girlfriend'; and Sameera Aquilar, a Filipino values advocate residing in Dubai.
