'Huwag ako!' Michael V. defends 'Voltes V: Legacy' team against bashers
Award-winning comedian and content creator, Michael V., shared his thoughts about the big project being mounted by his home network, GMA-7. The network is producing a live-action series of the classic Japanese anime, Voltes V.
In his latest Bitoy Story vlog titled "DX VOLTES V (Unboxing & Review)," the creative genius talked about his initial thoughts about the viral teaser of Voltes V: Legacy.
Bitoy shared, “Doon sa mga nakapanood ng teaser ng 'Voltes V: Legacy,' huwag na kayo magpanggap na hindi kayo na-impress at hindi kayo na-excite.
“'Yung iba kasi naggagaling-galingan, kung anu-ano ang sinasabi, 'dapat ganito, dapat ganun.'
“Naka, huwag ako!”
The Asian Television Awards awardee also expressed his confidence in Direk Mark Reyes, who is leading the Voltes V: Legacy team. According to Bitoy, Direk Mark is also a "certified geek."
“Well, hindi naman ako magpapanggap na hindi mataas ang expectations ko, pero kampante naman ako, kasi siyempre kilala ko naman si Direk Mark Reyes--geek talaga 'yan, e, tsaka matagal na niyang pangarap 'yan.”
“I'm sure grabe ang pressure sa buong production. Kaya ang advice ko lang for all the people involved is really enjoy this opportunity.”
Direk Bitoy also looked back at an episode of Pepito Manaloto, wherein he got the chance to wear the costume of Steve Armstrong.
He recalled, “Sabi ko nung nag-suot ako ng costume ni Steve Armstrong sa 'Pepito Manaloto,' feel na feel ko, e.
“It's the closest I could get to the original series and now silang mga involved sa project, they are a lot closer to this legacy, so to speak ah. Dapat malikot talaga 'yung utak mo dito sa project na 'to. Dapat bumalik ka sa pagkabata mo.”
The accomplished comedy star also feels that Voltes V: Legacy has a lot more supporters than bashers.
“Given na 'yung ka-career-in e, pero pag 'di ka nag-enjoy, dun magsi-simula 'yung problema and sana nga, pagsama-samahin talaga ng GMA 'yung mga totoong fans ni 'Voltes V' to make sure that this project succeeds.”
“Maraming bashers pero feeling ko mas maraming nagda-dasal na maging successful itong project na 'to.”
“Honestly nung nakita ko 'yung cast photos in their outfits, kahit alam ko na hindi pa 'yun 'yung actual outfits nila and let's say na kahit hindi ko kakilala kunyari 'yung mga artista, wala ako pakialam panonoorin ko pa rin siya, kasi fan talaga ako ng 'Voltes V.'”
The cast
Joining the star-studded cast of Voltes V: Legacy is Miguel Tanfelix who will play the lead role of Steve Armstrong, while Ysabel Ortega will portray Jamie Robinson.
Radson Flores will play Mark Gordon, while Matt Lozano is Big Bert and Little Jon is Raphael Landicho.
Other cast members who will be part of this big project are Martin del Rosario, Liezel Lopez, Epy, Quizon, Carlo Gonzalez, Neil Ryan Sese, and Gabby Eigenmann.
Voltes V: Legacy is the latest offering of GMA Entertainment Group, under the helm of Direk Mark A. Reyes and head writer Suzette Doctolero. It is currently one of the most highly-anticipated live-action series in Philippine television.
