US remake of Gong Yoo film 'Train to Busan' is in the works, according to reports

According to reports, hit K-zombie movie Train to Busan, starring one of the most popular Korean actors, Gong Yoo, will have a US version.

According to a report by GMA News Online and citing information from Deadline, Train to Busan remake is reportedly in the works and American production company, New Line, is in talks with Indonesian film director Timo Tjahjanto to direct the film.

Based on the GMA News Online article, Gary Dauberman will be adapting the screenplay as well.

Box-office hit Train to Busan is a story that mostly takes place in a train headed to Busan. A zombie apocalypse suddenly breaks out in South Korea and threatens the safety of the passengers.

Last July 2020, the movie's sequel, Peninsula, was shown in cinemas and was a box-office success, too.

Peninsula takes place four years after Train to Busan. It centers around a group of people who were left behind to survive in a zombie apocalypse.

The film stars Kang Dong-won, Lee Jung-hyun, Kwon Hae-hyo, Kim Min-jae, Goo Kyo-hwan, Kim Do-yoon, Lee Re, and Lee Ye-won.
