Derek Ramsay and Ellen Adarna respond to comments regarding John Lloyd Cruz

By Cara Emmeline Garcia

“I mean no disrespect to him. I know he is a good father.”

This was Kapuso actor Derek Ramsay's answer to a netizen after it remarked that he and his new girlfriend, Ellen Adarna, are being insensitive to actor John Lloyd Cruz after the former posted a video of himself bonding with the latter's son, Elias Modesto.

It can be recalled that Ellen was once in a relationship with the actor, with whom she shares a son named Elias Modesto.

In the said video, Derek, Ellen, and Elias are seen bonding together and singing the popular children's song “Eensy Weensy Spider.”

The post didn't sit well with a few netizens who said that the post was “insensitive” and felt disappointed with Derek for posting the video.

One wrote, “@ramsayderek07, why so insensitive naman for JLC's feelings? Ramdam ko 'yung pain n'ya as a father. God bless him.”

Another said, “That's so wrong on so many levels. What you do with your lover/partner is your business, but must you really post it for everyone to see?

“I was once a single mom myself, so I know what Ellen is going through, but I never disrespected the father of my child. No matter what happened between us, I could never do that. You [Ellen] and JLC once loved each other, so I can't even begin to understand why you guys had to post this.“

She added, “As for you, Derek, whom I once idolized and respected, I am very disappointed in you. You are a man yourself and were hurt a few times. How do you think JLC feels when he sees this with his son in it?

“I am completely and utterly disgusted. What exactly are you guys telling people? You guys should be ashamed of yourselves. People already know you are together. Isn't that enough?”

The last comment reached Ellen Adarna, who asked, “So everyone needs to adapt to your values and beliefs just because you think it's right? Because you think it's disgusting?”

The actress continued, “Have an open mind and open heart. That is what the world needs. Not your unsolicited advice. And let's say, I listen to you, what would it do for you? Believe what you want, don't impose them on others.”

The said post, which reached more than 400,000 plays on Instagram, continues to appear on Derek's profile, although its comment section has already been disabled.

Derek and Ellen have gone public about their relationship in late February after they were first spotted getting cozy with each other in January.
