Red Velvet's Wendy is back and she's making a mark in the K-pop industry with her very first solo mini-album titled “Like Water.”

On Monday, April 5, the K-pop idol released the music video of her title track that showed the vocalist in different scenarios as she sings the beautiful acoustic ballad.

Fans can easily enjoy Wendy's beautiful soft tone as she compares the existence and meaning of love “like water.”

She sings in the chorus, “My love is like water / Filling your sore spots / It covers the deep wounds and embraces you tightly / It makes you rise again. / I need you to hold me / We're destined for each other / We complete each other and comfort one another, it makes you heal / Like water, water.”

For her interview with Naver, Wendy talked about releasing her first mini-album and how she prepared for all her solo activities since the confirmation of her latest project.

“I couldn't believe it,” she tells the interviewer.

“I always thought to myself, 'Can I do it?' because I was always watching and cheering on other people doing their solo activities. However, with the help of the people around me, I was able to come out with my first solo mini-album. So, thank you very much.”

When talking about her album, the Red Velvet member shared how she wants to convey a “new greeting” to fans and offers it as her sincerest gratitude to them.

“'Like Water' means a “new greeting.” My sincerity and gratitude while delivering a warm message through the lyrics of my album.

“I sang the lyrics with care so that it can be more relevant to the times. I want it to sound comfortable so that my story can also be communicated well.”

Because this is her first solo debut, Wendy couldn't help but share that she thought of her Red Velvet members a lot throughout the process of making her album.

“During my debut with Red Velvet, we depended on each other a lot.

"Now, I debuted alone, I thought about the members a lot. The staff also helped me out and I was in the company of a lot of people. Thankfully we were able to prepare happily.”

In the same interview, she also continued to thank her fans for continually supporting her endeavors as an artist.

She said, “Thank you for always sending me so much support and love. Thank you so much and I know you waited a lot and it's harder than ever. Nevertheless, thank you for trusting and waiting.

“This album is for our ReVeluvs. I hope you listen to it well. And not just me, but for all the members of Red Velvet. We'll work hard and prepare for our comeback soon. Thank you always. I'm always thinking of you. I'll sing happily on stage so keep an eye out.”

Before the album drop, Wendy also shared a special recorded message to her fans via Spotify.

In her message, she dedicates the record to her fans who have been there for her “like water.”

She says, “To all my fans who know me and think of me more than anybody, even myself, you are the most precious and most indispensable to me on earth just like water.

“I will always stand by your side no matter what. I wish I could also be the reason for your life like you are for me.”

Besides “Like Water,” Wendy's mini-album contains four other tracks including its second lead track “When This Rain Stops,” “Why Can't You Love Me?,” “The Road,” and “Best Friend” with Red Velvet's Seulgi.
