Former President Joseph Estrada tests negative for COVID-19

Former President Joseph Estrada has won his battle against COVID-19 after it was reported that he already tested negative from the highly-contagious disease.

Award-winning GMA news anchor Maki Pulido broke the news and shared a photo provided by Erap's son, former Senator Jinggoy Estrada, showing the actor-turned-politician posing for the camera while in the hospital.

“Negative na sa #COVID19 si dating Pangulong Erap Estrada, ayon sa kaniyang anak na si dating Senador Jinggoy Estrada. Sa larawang ito na inilabas ni Jinggoy, makikita na naka-thumbs up sign na ang dating pangulo habang nasa hospital bed.”

As of today, April 13, the country recorded 8,571 new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infections, which raised the total number of cases to 884,783.

In addition, the number of recoveries climbed to 703,963 with 400 new people added to the tally. Unfortunately, 137 of our kababayans perished, bringing the total number of deaths to 15,286.

The Department of Health (DOH) also reported that the Philippines's positivity rate is 18.3% today.

Aside from the former president, several celebrities were recently infected with COVID-19 but has since recovered, including Glaiza De Castro, Rhian Ramos, comedienne K- Brosas and Ahron Villena.
