Fil-Am singer H.E.R., naging inspirasyon ng mga Pinoy matapos manalo sa Grammys at Academy Awards

Ito ang sinabi ng Filipino-American singer at songwriter na si H.E.R., o Gabriella Sarmiento Wilson sa totoong buhay, matapos niyang manalo sa 93rd Academy Awards.

Napanalunan ni H.E.R. ang Best Original Song sa Oscars para sa kantang "Fight for You" na ginamit sa pelikulang Judas and the Black Messiah.

"Me, just being up there, is a message. It's a message to all the young black Filipino girls, black or Filipino, that you can be up here, too.

"What you say matters; what you sing matters; what you play, what you write, it matters.

"Also, I just hope that there's another little girl out there, whoever, going, 'I can do that, too. I can be up there, too, someday."

Pinay ang ina ni H.E.R. na lumaki sa Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija samantang African American naman ang kanyang ama.
