Miss Universe Canada 2020 Nova Stevens speaks up about the recent controversy involving Filipino designer Michael Cinco and the MGmode team.

Nova Stevens addressed the controversy surrounding the Dubai-based Filipino fashion designer Michael Cinco and the MGmode team in the recent Miss Universe pageant.

In a video, Miss Canada aired her side and pleaded to end the dispute.

She said, “I just want to address the few that recently transpired between my team MGmode and Michael Cinco, unfortunately, I've been made to be involved, so I just want to clarify a few things."

The beauty queen expressed that she has nothing but love for the parties involved in the Miss Universe 2020 controversy. Nova acknowledged that Michael and MGmode were both a huge help in her pageant journey.

“They both helped me in ways that I can't even count. So every day I do count my blessings because of these two people, or I guess three 'cause MGmode are two people and Michael Cinco,” she said.

In her video, Nova sent her message to the Filipino designer.

“Michael, I have nothing but love and gratitude towards you.

“You have created the most beautiful gowns I could think of. I've never once imagined that I would work with you because you're Michel Cinco. So the fact that I was able to work with you is honestly a highlight of my career as Miss Universe Canada. So I just want you to know that, that gratitude would never be diminished no matter what. And I'll express that gratitude publicly and privately.”

Nova continued by saying she is an advocate of gratitude and she is grateful for both parties.

“I really do advocate for gratitude because I really feel that gratitude is the greatest multiplier in life. The more grateful you are in life, the more life gives to you. So, please know that, that will never change. I will continue and will always be grateful towards you because you have been nothing but kind to me; nothing but kind.”

She added, “This really breaks my heart because I love you both so much and you both helped me in many ways that I could imagine.”

The delegate of Canada for the Miss Universe pageant said 2021 is a year filled with blessings.

“2021 has been a year of so many blessings for me. Meeting my family, working with Michael Cinco shooting in the desert, how can I forget those events? How can I not be thankful?

Nova said that her chance to work with Michael is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

“Working with Michael Cinco, that's a once-in-a-lifetime. Not everyone gets that opportunity. And I will forever be grateful... So I just want you guys to stop fighting. I want this to be taken privately, I don't think they are both deserving of this, it's not fair for all of their hard work.”

The beauty queen pleaded with the netizens to stop the negativity.

“So for all of you online, please don't. Don't get into the drama. It's not worth it. Let's not spread more negativity, let's spread love.”

"It's so sad that I have to stop what I am doing and address this. I just want to take a few minutes away from social media and just reflect on life and figure out what my next moves are."

In a Facebook post, Michael shared the alleged scam that he experienced from Nova and MGmode.

In his post, he said he spoke up about the controversy as his team's credibility has been tarnished due to MGmode's claim that Michael's team sent a gown late and that it doesn't fit Miss Canada.
