The brave and beautiful Miss Myanmar Thuzar Wint Lwin has found refuge in the United States and will now work there as a model.

On May 24, a week after the Miss Universe 2020 pageant, Thuzar Wint Lwin, a.k.a. Candy Thuzar, was welcomed by the Chin community in Indianapolis.

The Burmese community in Indiana reportedly worked together to provide asylum for Candy and helped her land a job as a model in New York City.

In a post on the Myanmar Celebrity TV Club Facebook page, it was revealed that Candy will be working as a model at the We Are JEM Model Agency and will soon appear in an international fashion show.

This means Candy is now safe and won't have to face persecution in her home country Myanmar, where a warrant of arrest has been issued against her.

Watch Candy's arrival at the airport in the 15:45 mark of the video below.

Candy is one of the outspoken Burmese celebrities and personalities who condemn the coup d'etat that occurred on February 1.

She was actively protesting in the streets and also on her social media platforms against the military coup, which seized power from and detained their elected leader Aung San Suu Kyi.

Thuzar's journey as Miss Universe Myanmar has been laden with trials starting from her flight to Florida, USA.

She reportedly had to go incognito at the airport to be able to freely fly to the United States and compete as Myanmar's representative at the 69th Miss Universe pageant.

While she landed safely in America, her original national costume which she sent through an international courier company unfortunately didn't make it.

Thankfully the Chin community in Florida volunteered to create a new national costume for Candy.

She wore an ethnic costume worn by Chin women at traditional ceremonies such as the Khwang Cawi festival and called it “Fearless Empress.”

Candy walked the Miss Universe runway proudly donning the Fearless Empress and a huge sign that says “Pray for Myanmar.”

Moreover, Candy also spoke about the political turmoil in Myanmar in her video for the Miss Universe pageant.

She said, “Our people are dying and being shot by the military every day.

“I would like to urge everyone to speak about Myanmar.

“As Miss Universe Myanmar since the coup, I have been speaking out as much as I can.”

Although Candy didn't bring home the coveted crown, she did the Burmese people proud by making it to the Top 21 and winning Best National Costume.

Congratulations and best of luck in your future endeavors, Candy.
