GMA Network fields nominees in the 2012 Yahoo! OMG! Philippines Awards

GMA Network stars contend in 20 categories in this year’s Yahoo! OMG! Awards. Now on its second year, the purple-carpet event recognizes the most-searched celebrities based on trending metric in the Yahoo! Philippines Search Engine. Winners for each category are the most voted stars by the online community in the Yahoo! poll that will run until next Thursday, June 28.
Leading the pack of Kapuso nominees are primetime actor Dingdong Dantes for Actor of the Year; primetime superstar Marian Rivera and Makapiling Kang Muli lead actress Carla Abellana for Actress of the Year; FHM’s top picks Marian Rivera and Sam Pinto for Celebrity of the Year; and Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla, Jr. for Celebrity with Major Impact.
Reel and real sweethearts Dingdong and Marian also make a stunning choice for the IT Couple of the Year.
Meanwhile, the celebrated duo of Elmo Magalona and Julie Ann San Jose and young flick Jake Vargas and Bea Binene are nominated for Love Team of the Year.
Elmo and Julie Ann, the lead cast of the newest Sunday afternoon show Together Forever, are also nominated for the Male and Female Singer of the Year categories in the online poll. They are also set to star in a young romantic film Just One Summer set to be released this August.
The DongYan and JulieElmo fan bases are among the clubs who compete in the category Fans Club of the Year.
Kapuso station’s newest bet for primetime stardom and lead actor of the series One True Love Alden Richards is on the threshold of becoming this year’s Breakthrough Actor, while equally beautiful Kapuso actresses Rhian Ramos and Lovi Poe vie for the Breakthrough Actress award.
Elmo and Biag ni Lam-Ang lead actor Rocco Nacino are nominated for the Most Promising Actor award, while fast-rising stars Bella Padilla and Bea Binene are nominated for the Most Promising Actress award.
GMA’s top-rated comic actor of Bubble Gang, lead star of early primetime series My Daddy Dearest and title-roler of GMA Films’ most recent offering Boy Pick-Up Ogie Alcasid may get his nth showbiz award as this year’s OMG! Comedian of the Year. He is nominated with other Kapuso comic masters Vic Sotto, Jose Manalo and Wally Bayola.
Boy Pick-Up lead actress Solenn Heussaff and afternoon drama princess Kylie Padilla contend for the Best Female Newcomer award.
The longest running noontime show Eat Bulaga also has bets for Favorite Female TV host in My Daddy Dearest cast Pauleen Luna and 24 Oras showbiz anchor and Showbiz Central host Pia Guanio, while hosting expert Vic Sotto is also nominated for Favorite Male TV host award.
GMA’s flagship FM radio station Barangay LS 97.1, among the listeners’ top picks in Mega Manila, is on the hook of being this year’s Best FM Radio Station.
Luna Blanca lead Mona Lousie Rey, who was first known via the hit family primetime drama Munting Heredera, contends for the Child Star of the Year award.
The 2011 comedy-drama film by Chris Martinez Temptation Islandis also nominated for the Movie of the Year award.
