Seventeen pushes back album promotions after their staff members test positive for COVID-19

K-pop group Seventeen postpones activities while all members undergo self-quarantine after coming in close contact with two COVID-19 positive staff members, Naver News reported.

The group's agency confirmed two staff members, one from HYBE Corporation and an outsourced crew were tested positive for COVID-19 on June 18 and 19, respectively.

The Seventeen members and other staff already tested negative, but have still undergone self-quarantine protocols.

Seventeen's promotional projects are currently postponed as they finish self-quarantine.

Pledis Entertainment stated, “We would like to announce that Seventeen's promotional activities for their 8th mini-album have been postponed.”

“As soon as initial symptoms appeared for the first confirmed case in the evening of June 17, the artists [Seventeen] used self-test kits to confirm‎ that they were negative for COVID and underwent additional PCR testing as a preemptive measure; all artists were found to be negative when the results were returned in the morning of June 18,” the statement said.

Pledis concluded, “We would like to ask all fans who have waited patiently for Seventeen's comeback and the members of the media for your generous understanding. We will continue to fully comply with the requests and guidelines from health authorities, placing the highest priority on the safety of our artists and staff.”

On June 19, Korean health authorities informed Pledis Entertainment that their artists from Seventeen as well as all on-site staff that took part in the Tuesday, June 15 production, are classified as close contacts. Mandatory protocols included a request that close contacts of the patients should undergo self-quarantine from the night of June 19 to June 29.

Seventeen's promo activities for their 8th mini-album titled Your Choice shall be postponed, as well as their appearance on SBS Inkigayo scheduled for June 20 and an online fan sign event. Further details for the resume of Seventeen's activities will be provided following the conclusion of their self quarantine, Pledis Entertainment added.
