WATCH: Chadwick Boseman's last performance as T'Challa

It's been almost the year since the passing of Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman. The actor passed away on August 28, 2020, due to colon cancer. And this year, almost exactly a year to the date of his first death anniversary, Marvel Studios will be releasing its animated series titled 'What If…?' which features the last performance of Chadwick as T'Challa.

As its title suggests, the upcoming Disney+ series will explore the possibilities of different “what ifs” in the Marvel universe, such as what if Star-Lord of the Guardians of the Galaxy was the Black Panther instead of T'Challa.

Marvel recently dropped the almost two-minute first trailer for 'What If…?' and fans got all nostalgic and emotional as it featured the voice performances of their favorite Marvel actors, including that of the late Chadwick Boseman.

In the trailer, Chadwick's voice can be heard in T'Challa's scene with Yondu, where a hilarious moment ensues right before the battle begins.

Other Marvel actors who are reportedly part of the voice cast of the animated series are Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Michael B. Jordan (Killmonger), Natalie Portman (Jane Foster), Paul Rudd (Scott Lang), Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner), Sebastian Stan (James “Bucky” Barnes), Josh Brolin (Thanos), Michael Douglas (Hank Pym), Karen Gillan as Nebula, and Michael Rooker (Yondu Udonta).

Other iconic characters that will appear in the series but will be voiced by a different actor are Tony Stark/Ironman, Steve Rogers/Captain America, Taneleer Tivan/The Collector, Dr. Stephen Strange, and Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel.

Marvel characters Peter Parker/Spider-Man, the Ancient One, Ego, Vision, Ultron, Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, Gamora, Drax, Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Ramonda, Shuri, and Dora Milaje are also reportedly set to appear on 'What If…?.'

Actor Jeffrey Wright will voice the Watcher, the Marvel character who will narrate each episode of 'What If…?.”

The series is said to be the first animated series of Marvel Studios since becoming their own production company.

It is directed by Bryan Andrews and produced by Kevin Feige, Louis D'Esposito, Victoria Alonso, and Brad Winderbaum.

'What If..?' will premiere on August 11, just a few days before Chadwick Boseman's first death anniversary.

Meanwhile, the sequel to the blockbuster 2018 'Black Panther' movie 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever' is currently in production and helmed by filmmaker Ryan Coogler.

It's expected to be released on July 8, 2022.
