Beauty queen Ann Colis ready to go full time in showbiz

Miss Globe 2015 Ann Colis hopes to be recognized as an effective lead actress as she starts her local showbiz career.

Ann first made the headlines when she won the Binibining Pilipinas Tourism crown in 2015.

She was later on elevated to Binibining Pilipinas Globe, making her the official representative of the country in the Miss Globe beauty pageant in the same year.

The Filipina beauty from Pampanga did not disappoint fellow Pinoys and brought home the first Miss Globe crown of the country.

However, unlike other local beauty queens who joined showbiz after their reign, Ann chose to work abroad as a model.

"Well, first, I want to experience some change in my career path.

"There's a management offer when it comes to modeling in Los Angeles. I took that chance and okay naman.

"I stayed in L.A. for three years, so I was able to experience and work with different creatives and brands," Ann told select entertainment media, including GMANetwork.com, in a virtual interview held on Monday, July 12.

This year, as she decides to stay in the country for good, Ann commits to showbiz full time.

As the new talent of Virtual Playground of movie producer Dondon Monteverde, the 27-year-old Kampampangan beauty wishes to become the "leading lady of films."

She recalled how much she enjoyed her first acting stint in the movie Fluid.

"I really enjoyed the crowd, the environment. I'm really passionate when it comes to arts, any kind of arts.

"I feel like modeling is a performing arts for me, with acting as well.

"During my first stint, I really enjoyed it. I saw a future na parang I can do it for three, five, ten years from now. Like, there's a longevity of a career," Ann said.

As a newbie actress, Ann looks forward to learning new things and developing her acting talents in her future projects .

"I hope to be able to work with the actors that I admire," the self-confessed Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz fan.

She added smiling, "Basically, develop my skills when it comes to acting. Soon, who knows, like a best acting award if I nailed it."

So far, her game plan is simple: "to listen to the people in the industry because I'm new here. It's continuous learning. I'll just be in my A game by continuing to learn in this industry."

Right now, Ann's talent management is preparing her for her first project, "I am now about to take acting workshops to prepare me for my projects with them.

"I really want to try to cultivate acting as I feel it's something I can do for the rest of my life."

Asked what kind of movie projects she wants to do, Ann replied, "I'm very sporty as a person and I love action.

"Of course, I'm not that young to have that... Probably, if ever I'm given the chance, a sexy action film would be nice."

Then, she reiterated, "That's the goal, to be the most sought-after leading lady of the film industry."

Likewise, Ann looks forward to giving quality entertainment to Filipino audience.

"Filipino crowd like, the audience itself," she answered when asked what excites her about showbiz.

"Parang it's kind of the same in pageantry kasi iba talaga yung support ng mga Pinoy at yung audience natin.

"They're able to push you and inspire you to your arts, to the career path that you want to take," she concluded.
