GOT7's BamBam, NCT, TWICE set record as most listened-to Twitter Spaces

By Serina Joyce Duque

Announced last July 8, K-pop acts BamBam of GOT7, NCT, and TWICE dominated the Top 5 list of most listened-to Twitter Spaces.

Spaces is a fresh feature from the social network that allows live audio conversation among users. For K-pop fans, it meant a chance for them to feel closer to their favorite artists.

In a report released by Twitter, GOT7's BamBam topped the list with his Space on June 9.

His Space was notable for including an interactive Q&A, where fans were able to ask BamBam their questions themselves.

Third on the list is K-pop group NCT, who was also the first K-pop act to ever host a Space. Their March 11 Space was also the most liked tweet for live Spaces, despite the feature being in beta at that time.

TWICE, who ranked fifth, is the first K-pop girl group to hold a Space. They led an 'After Party' Space for the comeback premiere livestreaming of their latest mini album 'Taste of Love' on June 9.

Ranked second and fourth were Spaces about gaming and bitcoin, respectively.

Numerous K-pop artists including LOONA, Sandara Park, and ENHYPEN have also joined the platform. In addition, Global K-culture festival KCON:TACT also created a series of Spaces with a talk show format. K-culture like movies and webtoons also use the feature in innovative ways.

According to Kim Yeon-jeong, Head of Global K-pop & K-content Partnerships of Twitter, "One of fans' favorite parts of #KpopTwitter is feeling closer to their favorite artists, and Twitter Spaces bring them even closer than ever before.

"Spaces is where live audio conversations happen, and it's just getting started, meaning that fans can look forward to even more of their favorite K-pop, K-movie, and K-drama stars trying new ways to connect using Spaces live."
