LIST: 2021 Emmys nominees

The 2021 Emmy Nominations have been announced on Tuesday, July 13, by Emmy-winning actors Ron Cephas Jones of 'This Is Us' and his daughter Jasmine Cephas ones of '#FreeRayshawn, and streaming platform shows amassed more nods compared to their broadcast TV counterparts.

Among streamers, HBO/HBO Max got the most nominations with a total of 130, closely followed by streaming giant Netflix, who garnered 129 nods.

Other streamers who made it to top 5 are Disney+ (with 71), NBC (46) and Apple TV+ (34).

Broadcast-TV programs, on the other hand, collectively gathered 96 nominations, which pale in comparison to their 121 nods last year.

TV series 'The Crown' and 'The Mandalorian' tied this year for most nominations with 24 each, followed by Marvel's 'WandaVision' with 23, 'The Handmaid's Tale' with 21, 'Saturday Night Live' with 21, 'Ted Lasso' 20, 'Lovecraft Country' with 18, 'The Queen's Gambit' with 18, and 'Mare of Easttown with 16.

One of the most notable nominations is MJ Rodriguez's historic nod. The 'Pose' actress just became the first trans woman to get an Emmy nomination for a major acting category.

She is nominated for Lead Actress in a Drama, alongside Olivia Colman and Emma Corrin of 'The Crown', Uzo Aduba of 'In Treatment,' Elisabeth Moss of 'The Handmaid's Tale,' and Jurnee Smollett of 'Lovecraft Country.

The Emmy Awards ceremony will be held on September 19, Sunday, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California, and will be hosted by Ceric the Entertainer of 'The Neighborhood.'

Unlike the 2020 Emmy Awards, which was mostly virtual, this year's ceremony will have limited audience consisting of the nominees and their guests.
